The George’s Refurbishment

Please note The George is currently closed whilst we install a new look.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming you all back when we reopen.

Castletown’s landmark pub and hotel, The George Hotel, closed on Monday 8th January until the Spring as owners H&B embark on a substantial refurbishment to upgrade and modernise the bar, restaurant and accommodation.

Registered as an historic building dating back to 1833, The George is currently the largest hotel within the H&B group, with 11 bedrooms comprising four king-size rooms which overlook Castle Rushen as well as five double rooms and two singles.

Di Edington, Operations Manager, said “We are closing in January to complete a well-deserved upgrade to The George Hotel, bringing it up to a 4-star grade. As this refurbishment includes the whole building, we are closing to avoid any potential disruption to our guests. Already popular with visitors, especially during T.T and M.G.P, we are looking to broaden the hotel’s appeal”.

This development work will include making The George’s function room perfect for private or business functions.

Di continued; “As well as upgrading the building, we will also be working on our food menu and entertainment offerings. This refurbishment of The George represents another substantial investment into the Island by H&B and we’re excited to see how this might have a positive impact for Castletown”.
